New Exhibition at Remedy Hairdressing

Ok, there was not a lot of updates recently, because we have been busy.
Since the floor swap in July our female clientele seems to have doubled which is keeping us all on the shop floor all the time and we have also launched our new website recently (remedyhairdressing.com). The website has been receiving a very good feedback. If you want to share your opinion with us please email us at: remedyhairdressing@yahoo.co.uk
Only this week there has been a launch of a new exhibition at Remedy. The original illustrations created by a successful artist and designer Nina Hunter (ninahunter.com) have been inspired by the story of Alice In Wonderland.
Nina, graduated with a MA at The Academy Of Arts, has been trained in traditional techniques such as etchings, figurative drawing and oil painting, but has recently been exploring the art of digital illustration.
The digital collage, a relatively new art form is a combination of a skilled hand and modern technology.
The carefully chosen elements of fantasy often with a female figure as the focal point draw you in the wicked and wonderful world of fairytale.
The illustrations are available to buy for £40 each.

Remedy welcomes Jerry from Cactus Hair
Remedy Hairdressing is pleased to announce that Jerry Holmes has joined our team of talented stylists.
Jerry, previously Cactus Hair Salon owner where he worked for the past 9 years has moved across the road to permanently become member of Remedy Hairdressing. Jerry has been trading in Leeds for over 25 years and by offering excellent service in ladies hair he gained himself a respectable opinion and an extensive clientele.
Now, employing very talented four ladies and three gent's hairdressers Remedy Hairdressing can genuinely admit to having one of the best set of stylists in town.
Since Remedy opened in 2006 as a salon offering exclusively gents haircuts the male part downstairs was always flourishing. The salon being a completely new brand with it's unique character and offering the highest standards of haircutting quickly became very strong, competing even with Leeds' long established businesses. The ladies part though found it for some reason much harder.
Now with the joined forces we believe that the difficult days are over. To celebrate the forthcoming two-year anniversary of the ladies part, Remedy has redecorated and swapped the floors around to make it more friendly for women. And, don't tell anyone, but I have heard that there is also a party coming!

Happy Birthday Remedy
The idea evolved basing mainly on what we didn’t want the salon to become, creating a strong foundation for what it is today. We decided that it is the quality music and a friendly and relaxed ambiance that makes the customers return every time rather then marble floors and high- tech equipment.
To create a recognized brand from nothing on a very competitive market was very hard. We have seen new salons open and shut down in our history and there were times when we thought we wouldn’t make it. It is only after three years of hard and intense work we can finally relax and admit in quiet voice that it’s going to be alright. Of course a massive “thank you” goes to all our customers who have been sticking with us and to family and friends who helped us to get through.
With no doubt we will be celebrating our 3rd birthday in a loud style. Join us at Sela Bar on the 16th May 2009 at 9:30pm.
See you there!

It's Brillyant

It was only by chance I was working late last Wednesday missing the dinner my missus cooked. Working slowly through haircut of this guy, who hasn't been in the salon before I really wished I didn't have to do it so late. But work is cash and someone has to do the late nights, so I was cutting away enjoying the interesting conversation.
Will, my client who lives in London was in Leeds for business. He happened to notice through the mirror some of the Tony's artwork that was displayed on our walls. As it turned out he was very interested in modern art and immediately fell in love with his pictures. Being unable to decide which one was his favourite, bought the remaining eight pieces.
Tony will be well chuffed when he finds out about the success of his exhibition at Remedy!
"Brillyant!" as Tony would say.

Remedy on New Briggate

New Briggate in Leeds hasn't always been associated with a cultural part of town. With so many take-aways, taxi stands and night clubs it used to be more a place of ever busy nightlife.
In the recent years though according to the City Council's plan to give it a more refined feel, the image of New Briggate is changing. The Grand Theatre has been renovated, the takeaways have moved across the road, a new Gallery 42 has opened and the restored units of the Grand Theatre building are now available to rent.
The presence of Remedy Hairdressing has also influenced the feel of the street. Apart from the fact that over the last two and half years it has established itself as a successful, independent hairdressing salon offering a high standard of service, Remedy is also involved in Leeds' Art Scene by displaying local artists' work in the salon.
There has been several successful exhibitions before and currently a selection of work by a Leeds individual is decorating the salon's walls. Tony has been a friend and a customer of remedy from the very beginning. His work is very distinguished and features mainly drawings. The humour of the sketches is known to all customers of Remedy and those who haven't heard of Tony are invited to see his work at the salon.
